Day 4-- Active Listening

It was another great day removing morning glory with the Washington Conservation Corps. Working together, we pulled 1,404 invasive weeds in the last half hour before lunch. In total we cleared 16,000 square feet of forest area!!! We also got a chance to hear about how Cooper’s Hawk fledglings are tagged and tracked by a representative from the Audobon Society --and how sparrows and starlings that are used as bait! That is a trap in the picture above.
This afternoon, the group marked the locations of yesterday’s interviews on the map and also started to work on learning about the native plants of Seattle.

I met my goal of active listening by listening to the person who talked about tagging the hawks. I listened well, because I was interested. I wanted to see some Cooper's Hawks myself. The speaker did show me some pictures, but I didn't get to see one on my own.

Day 4 was a nice day. Today I learned good listening skills. I showed good listeing skills by always showing eye contact to the talker and not fidgeting.

everything was perfect because of how many weeds i pulled in a 44 minute period. i pulled a total of 230 weeds by my self. but my team pulled a total of 710 weeds. some people think we actually counted by twos but we didn't. hello everybody. i was to ask questions to people and listen to the answers they give.

Today I learned about the plant called Morning glories they're those plants that are very tall. Bigger than blackberries. They have tiny green peddles on them to. This camp is cool I feel like i'm back in 2 summers ago now too man of course. i'll comment some more later.

ohh and my goal almost forgot. It was to listen actively and that's what i did to directions on how to pull out morning glories and blackberries. And i asked about half of the plants breaking off that it minus points cause that was the objective off the work today counting how many plants pulled out. And i must say 2 summers ago due to this camp i actually am back in there man. I'll comment more about that later.

I picked like hundred blackberry plants that are very are bad for the environment. After that, Ryan & I had a burping contest during lunch & also, I stopped being a silent type but not yet, I have an intense sense of humor but it was incredible.
