Day 3-- 3 Communication styles cont. real life examples

Today, for our service learning we worked with a great group from the Cascade Land Conservancy. We helped them with their project of reclaiming a large area of land along the west border of the park that was completely overrun with invasive species. While working some of us got to see fledgling Cooper's Hawks and we learned about several new plant species. On the way back from work we had a chance to interview people at the park to ask them why the come to Magnuson and where they come from, so we could get an idea of the people who use the park and how far they travel to come here.
We continued our work on noticing when ourselves and others use passive, assertive and aggressive statements and made goals around being assertive.

my comment is of such the interview went just fine the interview teaches people how to talk and interview people you don't know very well. i interviewed my supperviser she was very nice she said "I come to the park to clear weeds and plant new trees". she lives in west seattle and it takes her about 45 minuets to get to the park

What I have worked on is helping the environment from dieing by pulling off the weeds, blackberry plants, etc. but on this day forward, I had a
new reputation on the environment that I became very useful by learning about native plants.

Today was fun. Yesterday we played in the beach. Today we did weeds. There was grass and thorn weeds. I learned about plants and how they grow. I saw the dogs. They were labrador retrevers. Today my goal was communication-Say What?. I was tired.

I worked with my group on weeding plants in a forest area in the park. We did have a chance to see a Cooper's Hawk, two in my case. I worked hard at my job, and I also did an interview with Nate and Nanayaw on some of the people who worked in the park. Once again I completed my goal of working on being assertive.

The first 3 days at camp were great. On Day 1 I learned how to weed. My social skill for Day 1 was to get to know people's favorite interests. I met my social skill. On Day 2 I learned how to rake. My social skill was to act assertively. I met my goal. On Day 3 I learned how to interview a stranger. My social skill was to act assertively in 1 problem during the day. I met my social goal. I even saw Coopers Hawks today. So far, all is well.

I also did in interview for someone who works in the park. found out that sicker bushs are also known as blackberries. Blackberries are also the fruit that grow on them.
